Last night Meghan and Harry attended the Henry van Straubenzee Memorial Fund’s Christmas Carol Service at St Luke’s Church in Chelsea, London. Meghan gave a reading of the poem “Our Deepest Fear” by Marianne Williamson.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

Being star struck isn’t usually my thing – half the time I don’t even recognise people! – but tonight was a different kind of night. I walked into a Christmas carol service at a local church in Chelsea not knowing that it was actually a charity event honouring one of Prince William & Harry’s school friends, Henry Van Straubenzee. Sitting behind Meghan and Harry (and Pippa!) during service and watching them whisper in each other’s ears and hold hands was as heartwarming as the carols themselves. Leaving the paparazzi outside and listening to both of their heartfelt readings in front of packed congregation made me feel part of a great tide of human solidarity making a difference. And don’t get me started on the baby bump 😍 Regardless of what you see in the media, their love is real and inspiring. Their spirit and passion for positive change in the world is contagious and if that doesn’t get you in the holiday spirit, nothing will! Consider me a royal convert🤰🏻👸🏼🎄
